Tarik Skubal turned in a dominant seven-inning performance at Chase Field in what was essentially a hometown start — he grew up in nearby Kingman, Ariz. — allowing just one run on six hits with no walks and three strikeouts on 87 pitches, but a first-inning solo homer off an errant 0-2 fastball by Corbin Carroll proved to be all the offense Arizona needed, as Zac Gallen matched him with six shutout innings to hand Skubal the defeat.
