Luis Gil, the 2024 AL Rookie of the Year, is on track to rejoin the Yankees rotation in mid-April after being left off the Opening Day roster when New York opted to go with a four-man rotation out of spring training.
Manager Aaron Boone confirmed Gil will make one start for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre first, then slot into the big league rotation for the following turn. Gil went 2-1 with a 4.66 ERA in six spring outings.
The report also notes that Carlos Rodón, rehabbing from elbow surgery, suffered hamstring tightness but threw off a mound Wednesday and is expected to travel to New York for the home opener — with Boone describing the hamstring issue as “a minor thing.”
