1. Information We Collect

We only collect personal information you voluntarily provide to us. This currently includes:

  • Email address — if you subscribe to our newsletter. We use this solely to send you MLB news updates. We will never sell or share your email address with third parties.
  • Contact form submissions — if you reach out via email at editor@baseballticker.com.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit Baseball Ticker, standard web server logs and analytics tools may automatically collect:

  • Browser type and version
  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Referring website or search engine
  • General geographic region (country/city level — not your precise location)
  • Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)

This information is collected in aggregate and is used only to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. We do not use this data to identify individual users.

2. Cookies

Baseball Ticker uses a small number of cookies to improve your experience:

  • Theme preference — we store your dark/light mode preference locally in your browser so it persists between visits. This data never leaves your device.
  • WordPress session cookies — standard WordPress cookies used for site functionality. These do not contain personal information.
  • Analytics cookies — if we use Google Analytics or similar tools, these cookies help us understand aggregate traffic patterns. You can opt out of analytics cookies through your browser settings or by using a tool like Google Analytics Opt-out.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. Some features of the site may not function correctly if cookies are disabled.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To send newsletter subscribers MLB news and updates (email only, if subscribed)
  • To respond to inquiries sent to editor@baseballticker.com
  • To analyze aggregate site traffic and improve the Baseball Ticker experience
  • To ensure the technical security and performance of the website

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

Baseball Ticker uses the following third-party services that may collect data independently under their own privacy policies:

  • MLB Stats API — we fetch live scores, standings, injury reports, and statistical data from the official MLB Stats API (statsapi.mlb.com). No personal user data is sent to this service.
  • ESPN CDN — team logo images are loaded from ESPN’s content delivery network (espncdn.com). No personal user data is sent.
  • Google Fonts — we load web fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). Google may collect usage data per their Privacy Policy.
  • Google Analytics — if enabled, Google Analytics collects anonymized usage data. See Google’s Privacy Policy for details.
  • RSS News Sources — Baseball Ticker aggregates headlines from public RSS feeds including ESPN, MLB.com, FanGraphs, CBS Sports, and others. All articles remain the property of their original publishers.

5. Newsletter

If you subscribe to the Baseball Ticker newsletter, your email address is stored securely on our server and used only to send you MLB news updates. You can unsubscribe at any time by emailing editor@baseballticker.com with “Unsubscribe” in the subject line. We will remove your address within 5 business days.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect the information stored on our servers. Our website uses HTTPS encryption for all connections. However, no method of internet transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children’s Privacy

Baseball Ticker is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at editor@baseballticker.com and we will promptly delete it.
